Decks built for rural lots
Bigger yards give you room for a larger deck, a covered section or a screened porch, but they also bring sloped ground and soft spots after rain. We set deck footings for the soil, plan drainage around the structure, and build covered and screened porches that tie into the house roofline. If you want a patio or paver patio at grade beside the deck, we handle that too.
Replacing an older deck
Older decks often fail at the ledger, posts or footings before the boards look bad. We inspect the structure, tell you whether it can be repaired or should be replaced, and rebuild to current code. If rot has reached the house framing, we repair that as part of the job through our structural repair work.
Permits depend on which side of the county line you're on
NC 274 crosses from Gaston County into Lincoln County north of Cherryville. Inside Cherryville and elsewhere in Gaston County, Gaston County issues building permits. On the Lincoln County side, Lincoln County Planning and Inspections issues zoning and building permits. Most new decks need a permit and inspections. On contracted projects, AGCS confirms the right office for your address and handles the permits.
